Hillary Really Cares About The People of Florida, And Also Winning

hillarymsnbcinterview.jpgNow that Hillary Clinton has snuck her way into “victories” in both the Florida and Michigan Democratic primaries, she needs to begin doing the hard work of forcing the country to accept the results of these fairly shady elections. She began her effort with a post-primary interview on MSNBC this evening.

The interview erased any doubts that Hillary might do the partially honorable thing and take whatever ill-gotten momentum she can from these primaries and move on without pushing for these states to have an impact on the nominating process. There has also been some some speculation that perhaps when she says she wants to “seat” delegates, Clinton means she will only do so after the nominee is selected, which would allow her to appease voters in Florida and Michigan without being evil. I’d say this interview seems to erase any hope of that happening. When asked whether or not she’d be pushing for the Florida and Michigan votes to count now that she has won them, Clinton told Chris Matthews and Keith Olbermann:

“I am going to work to do everything I can to seat these delegates… We need to move on and we need to start thinking about victory for the Democrats and that is what I’m going to do.”

It sounds like Hillary is going to fight tooth and nail for the right to go back on her word. According to her, she is doing this because she just cares so much about the Floridians and Michiganders. It has nothing to do with the fact that all this maneuvering may help her win. Also, apparently we all need to “move on,” forget about this Barry Obama character who keeps making the pretty speeches, and start thinking of Hillary as the inevitable next President again.
