Tonight on NBC: The Larry Craig Episode of Law & Order
Law & Order is famous for featuring storylines that are “ripped from the headlines,” so it was only a matter of time before everbody’s favorite cruising Senator ended up with his own episode. I’m kind of surprised this didn’t end up being a case for the Special Victims Unit though. In college, I used to watch SVU way too much. My friends and I played an Special Victims Unit drinking game where we’d take shots every time Ice-T came on in a stupid hat, or when Det. Stabler would lose his shit imagining somebody doing something bad to his little girls. Anyway, back to tonight’s episode. I saw the commercial, so I know all about it. It is entitled Political Animal. It’s going to be amazing.
The commercial promises “three dead guys and one politican with something to hide.” The Law & Order producers seem to have spiced up Larry’s story with a little triple murdering, but you can still tell that the politician (played by The Wire’s John Doman) is based on the Senator from Idaho. The commercial shows the politician denying accusations of gayness along with ominous black-and-white footage of a loafer inching across bathroom tiles. It’s too bad Fred Thompson had to quit the show last year to start his failed Presidential campaign. It would be real fun to watch him handle this script. The Larry Craig episode of Law & Order premieres tonight at 10/9 Central on NBC.
