The New York Times Welcomes America into a New Era of Pluralism

A meeting of the New York Times editorial board ends in the framing of a new Constitution.
Some cynics would suggest that the United States of America isn’t run from the ground-up, as elementary school history books would suggest, but rather from the top down, as a group of elite - business owners, politicians, etc - use the media to help generate a public consensus for their policy decisions. Power Elite theory is a good one, because it helps explain why our leaders are always despicable, rich people tend to stay that way, why I have to go the emergency room every time I get the flu, and why the tax code is fucking impossible to understand. But the New York Times, America’s “paper of record” which is in no way connected to any such power elite, wants you to know: it’s not true.
The reason? They tried to pick Hillary, but it’s just working, among others – mostly that this has been a bizarrely unpredictiable campaign season where underdogs like Barry Obama and Huckles the Jesus Clown have gained momentum and are hanging on, John McCain seems to have locked in the GOP nomination without the support of the party’s base, and Hillary Clinton, who had the Democratic nomination all but settled in a couple of months ago is in now in a bitter state by state fight with Barry that may only be resolved on superdelegates on the floor of the convention.
DON’T WORRY NEW YORK TIMES THE ESTABLISHMENT WILL BE BACK WE PROMISE!
It’s adorable that they actually wrote this in words and printed it in their newspaper. It’s refreshing to see this kind of idealism and from a major American media outlet. GET WITH THE PROGRAM! If the power establishment never had to adjust from to time to preserve itself, we’d still have slavery and only white men who own things would be allowed to vote. Things being as they are, we all get to vote for either the black man or the white woman of the property owners’ choosing. See? Democracy.
I would mock and deride this further but I’m late for dinner, so please pick up the banner in the comments.
