Siren Song

  • We almost admire the way Bush consistently does the most horrible things. [New York Times]
  • Larry Craig did it. After getting arrested for cruising for sex in an airport mens room, pleading guilty, resigning from the Senate, unresigning, resigning again, and then unresigning again, he actually managed to make the whole thing just go away. But we can promise one thing: we will always remember. We will never forget. [New York Times]
  • Barry tries to buy off the poor. Typical, typical, typical. [Washington Post]
  • House gets ready for contempt vote, probably the one thing they’ll ever do by way of “oversight.” [Politico]
  • When you say she “lost eight primaries in a week,” yeah, that does sound pretty bad. [Wall Street Journal]
  • A real lede someone really wrote for a real newspaper: “If the old Navy pilot can tune out the siren song luring him to starboard, he might have an outside chance of navigating California’s treacherous waters in November.” [Los Angeles Times]

    Greg, a news roundup on TCP? Thanks! Isn’t this the very first one?

    I noticed how many, er, few comments they always got on W. Didn’t you guys actually LOSE money on the page views?

    But me, I always liked ‘em.

    Bush: America’s biggest 4-year-old with temper tantrums to boot. What is he going to do with all of his free time after Jan. 20, 2009?

    @rptrcub

    Clear brush in Paraguay, right?

    @ragingmonk

    not sure that this will happen every day, but today (and yesterday) they happened not to use what i wrote, and i have to wake up too early to write it not to see it get some use somewhere.

    thanks though! i’m glad that you like them, as i have been SLAVING AWAY on them for months.

    @greg: you’re probably not including enough news bits on Ron Paul. That man is still getting a lot of play over there.

    I think that for a professional snark-blogger, reaching for the old Ron Paul is getting to be the sign someone is out of ideas. A sign of hack-ery. They should be ashamed of the way they are wringing it out over on brand W.

    @nabisco: Who is Ron Paul?

    Sorry, old habits are hard to break.

    Starboard is to the right, right? So are they saying that if Walnuts can ignore the wingnuts, he might win in California? ‘Cuz I’m too lazy to read the actual article. Which is why I, too, really enjoyed the daily briefing over at that other place. Your efforts did not go unnoticed, Greg.

    @Greg,

    Count me as one who liked reading them too. I often enjoyed commenting on them as it got the juices flowing. Allowed me to take a dump on the morning news dump so to speak.
