Warrantless Wiretapping 101
Let’s talk telecom immunity for a second. The Dear Leader is stamping his widdle cowboy-booted feet and screaming that the telecom companies must be given immunity even though they colluded with the most corrupt administration in the history of the nation. Our Unitary ExecutiveTM is also having a hissy fit because, if the law expires tomorrow, of course the terrorists will come for us.
Point 1 - it’s the fucking Bush administration - do you think for a second they’ll stop listening to our phone conversations and reading our emails just because some law expired? Are you fucking kidding me? Laws are so 9/10.
Point 2 - the Dear Leader and the Dark Lord had been planning to spy on us without warrants long before 9/11. The terror attacks on September 11th changed nothing.
Warrantless surveillance of U.S. citizens is often defended as a necessary security measure in a post-Sept. 11 world. But NPR Senior News Analyst Daniel Schorr says the administration’s push for expanded surveillance powers actually began months before the Sept. 11 attacks.
Doesn’t that give you a warm feeling? Call your representative and make sure telecom immunity gets killed in the House. 9/11 was no excuse to cooperate with the Bush administration, but helping them before we were attacked? Get me a fucking pitchfork and a torch.
