Congressman Al Wynn, who represents the Maryland suburbs of D.C., lost his primary earlier this year by not being liberal enough. Amusingly, in the 2000 redistricting, the Maryland legislature actually gave him more Republicans so that they could shift more Democrats into the Montgomery County Congressional district that has been held by Republican Congresswoman Connie Morella (and is now help by Democrat Chris Van Hollen).

Anyway, so, he lost his primary and as a special thank-you to all of his constituents, he’s resigning in June to take a job as a lawyer and leaving his seat empty until the 111th Congress is sworn in next January. Fuck you, Montgomery County, Maryland! If you don’t want him in office, he’ll take his toys and go home and no one will represent you until next year.
