Hilbot: The White Power Candidate
In her most savage display of this campaign, the Hilbot 9000 implied to USA Today that white people will not vote for Senator Unicorn, leaving her the only reasonable choice for the Democratic presidential candidacy.
The Hilbot 9000’s claim that an Obama Democratic presidential candidacy would be doomed by voter racism is the most ambitious appeal to electoral apartheid since 1988 when Bush I threw the perfidious Willie Horton ads at hapless, defenseless Mondalesque Mike Dukakis in the general election.
Sieg Heil, baby!
The Hilbot 9000 had been slowly sloughing off the progressive skin she wore around the White House when she was First Lady and Chief Counter-Sniper operative in Bosnia, emerging from the Senate after 7 years as a neo-Conservative pitbull in Democratic drag, a Goldwater girl all grown up and ready to swing some fucking nukes.
Hilbot 9000’s long, deep, leg-humping French kisses with the neo-conservative and snakehandling cults in the Senate have transformed the Hilbot 9000 from a pragmatic, right-wing Democrat into a nuke-rattling militarist and white supremicist without peer. Read, if you haven’t, the twisted appeal to electoral apartheid in Thursday’s USA Today.
The Hilbot 9000 told USA Today this week, “I have a much broader base to build a winning coalition on,” and pointed to an Associated Press article in evidence “that found how Sen. Obama’s support among working, hard-working Americans, white Americans, is weakening again, and how whites in both states who had not completed college were supporting me. There’s a pattern emerging here.”
Yes, the pattern is that one of the sharpest characters to get into national politics has, over time, conceded everything to the practical concerns of playing the beltway game and has become a reflection of all that is evil in that culture. The Hilbot 9000’s drift to the right had been apparent from the earliest days in the Senate but the last six months of campaigning has revealed a proclivity to appeal to, and therefore cultivate, the basest fears and hatreds of the electorate.
