Phil Gramm amends previous statements on whiners, who now only include Democrats and the poor

“If you’re sitting here today, you’re not economically illiterate and you’re not a whiner, so I’m not worried about who you’re going to vote for,” Gramm told supporters of McCain at a Financial Services Roundtable event in Minneapolis on the sidelines of the Republican National Convention.

Don’t Worry About the Economy: Exxon is Doing Great!

You like my waddle? A lot of people are being really sad pandas about the whole economy thing. So much so in fact that no one is even really sure if that whole thing in Iraq is even still going on anymore (seriously, can someone check on that?). Mortgages, recessions, declining payrolls. It is just impossible to get some good news.

Well, you will be happy to know everything is going to be great! Exxon Mobil just posted their profits from last year - $40.6 billion! It was like TOTALLY a record for like any US company ever and really goes to show that just because the liberal media is talking about how bad everything is, some people are picking themselves up by the bootstraps and making a difference. Sure, that profit doesn’t really benefit me, but I am sure there are some folks (if you love old white dudes, and a token black lady, click that link!) who just scored big and eventually that profity-goodness will trickle down to me. In the meantime, um, can you spare any change? [AP]
