A Strict Constitutionalist, Eh?
U.S. Bankruptcy Court Judge Robert Somma (a Boston resident) was picked up on a DUI charge in New Hampshire earlier this month, and resigned today. He didn’t resign because he was drinking and driving, but because he was driving away from a gay bar after having been drinking while wearing a cocktail dress, fishnet stockings and high heels. The arresting officer knew he was drunk because Judge Somma had difficulty removing his drivers license from his wallet that he was, naturally, carrying in his purse.
Per our friend SanFranLefty, who sent us the story from AboveTheLaw, “I wish there were photos so we could critique the ensemble and the shoes. Fishnets are pretty daring, given the winter snow in New Hampshire” Sadly for us, Somma’s mug shot was only from the neck up, but some things can luckily be improvised.

Civil Rights Are Just Not Sexy
Now that everyone’s obsessed with the Presidential races, Congress has more time to pass legislation that bothers their constituents without anybody noticing. Today, the Senate passed the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act modernization bill — the one Bush mentioned in his State of the Union that had to get done before the old extension expired. Democrats have been “fighting” with Bush to keep a provision out of the bill that would provide immunity to phone companies that complied with the illegal warrantless wiretapping program and are facing lawsuits. Well, now that no one is actually paying attention to what Congress does because they’re all Barry! The Hills is alive! McCain! Huckatheocracy!, the Senate passed its version of the legislation providing that self-same immunity by a 69 to 29 vote and they’re fully expecting/demanding that the House do the same really soon before the program expires and The Terrorists Win.
Barry Obama has a Paranoia Problem
Barry Will change everything except the things he will leave the same.
The gentlemen over at Whitehouse.com ran into a little problem at a Barry rally not too long ago: the police and the secret service wouldn’t let them hang out to get footage of Barry getting onto his bus, even though they were standing on a public sidewalk, which supposedly, belongs to the public - this is a long post, but just watch the video. Similarly (and I can’t remember where I saw this and am a little too lazy to look for it right now) a reporter from the Guardian was told she was not allowed to talk to folks at a New Hampshire Barry rally, even though it too was held on public property.
