Throughout this interminable Democratic Primary people have been speculating about former Vice Presidential nominee John Edwards’ potential endorsement. Today, now that everyone agrees that it’s already over, Edwards has broken his silence and endorsed Barack Obama. At this point, watching these primaries drag on and on is about as engaging as watching paint dry. But I have a big soft spot for John Edwards. Actor and firearm enthusiast Charlton Heston died Saturday. In their obituary for the former NRA President and notorious gun control foe, CNN charitably referred to Heston as simply a “Hollywood Legend.” I know he used to act and stuff, but personally, I’ll remember him more for all of the work he did to spread the joys of high powered assault weapons through this great country of ours. Appropriately, his last film role was a portrayal of the Nazi murderer Dr. Josef Mengele in in the 2003 movie My Father, Rua Alguem 5555.
