Investment scam artist and former Oregon State GOP chairman Craig Berkman is hurling thousands of dollars into the Psychogeezer’s campaign war chest despite the fact that he is tens of millions in the hole to repay all the investors a jury found he stole from them in his scummy investment scam.

The Psychogeezer, Mr. Finance Reform himself, shockingly, is sucking up all the money like a starving dog on a pork loin, Williamette Week reports. The Portland weekly looked in the Federal Election Commission filings and found that Berkman had thrown $50,000 at Republican political enterprise but the biggest chunk of change had gone to the guy who was made famous for putting in the fix for criminal mastermind and S&L bust-out artist Charles Keating: the Psychogeezer.

Who cares whether he opts out of public campaign financing - what about opting out of the Fourth Amendment?

After months of negotiation, the House today passed a compromise that, while far from perfect, is a marked improvement over last year’s Protect America Act.

It is not all that I would want. But given the legitimate threats we face, providing effective intelligence collection tools with appropriate safeguards is too important to delay. So I support the compromise, but do so with a firm pledge that as President, I will carefully monitor the program, review the report by the Inspectors General, and work with the Congress to take any additional steps I deem necessary to protect the lives - and the liberty - of the American people.

Sure it’s a political calculation for the general election, but it’s still disappointing. On the other hand, I trust him to end the war and begin the long process of restoring our First and Fourth Amendment rights. Shit - that’s the first glass-half-full thing I’ve said in nearly eight years.

President George W. Bush and President Vladimir Putin got together in Russia today yesterday to try and work out their differences on missile defense. They wanted so badly work out a compromise that they even coordinated their clothing. That sure is commitment! Sadly, it didn’t work, no agreement was reached, the US will construct a giant missile defense system throughout Eastern Europe, and Vladdy and his boytoy Dmitry will have to develop a way to disable it. But friendships like these can’t be torn asunder over a little bickering about global weapon systems. Indeed, no intercontinental ballistic missile could ever sever this bond. If Hillary Clinton’s campaign wants to clear up the appearance that it acquired information about Sen. Barrack Obama’s travel history through mercenary cyberthieves, now the focus of a cyberstalking investigation in which his passport data was breached by State Department functionaries, it is going to have to explain how it was able to claim it knew that Obama had only gone to one NATO country and never traveled to Latin America in its campaign literature this month.

Right now, Hillary Clinton, America needs to believe one of its leading presidential candidates isn’t capable of this kind of perfidy.
